She was first introduced to us in 2006 as a R&B singer from Barbados. An innocent girl turned unapologetic bad girl and arguably the greatest fashion icon of our time. Rihanna has become more than just a musician and her fan base – the Navy lack nothing as she has become a lifestyle celebrity. The Navy draw more from the superstar than just her music; her aura, style and attitude keeps the Navy’s cup overflowing.
“Everybody knows Rihanna as a wonderful singer, but through our partnership at Fenty Beauty, I discovered a true entrepreneur, a real CEO and a terrific leader. She naturally finds her full place within LVMH.” said LVMH Chairman and Chief Executive Barnard Arnault. In between living her best life, pulling fashion looks, creating money shots and firing back at anyone who comes for her online; one can wonder where Riri gets the time for Fenty and all her other projects.
Well, the launch of her LVMH-backed Fenty fashion label last week has left us all in awe of the queens work ethic. Let us know your thoughts on her latest collection because we are totally here for it! We stan a queen!
Camp: Notes of Fashion
The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute also known as the Met Gala is like an annual high school reunion that only the cool kids are invited to. The Met Gala is the biggest fashion event in the calendar every year, where you will find all the A-list celebrities from actors/actresses, musicians to designers coming together for a lavish fashion fundraiser.
The Met Gala will launch the 2019 spring collection and will set the tone for the fashion looks and trends that we should expect this season.
This year’s theme “Camp: Notes on Fashion” will see the likes of Gucci, Valentino and Moschino explore style in the context of an unnatural love… A love that is pretentious; and one that is exaggerative. This theme erases gender roles in fashion which may be controversial in today’s society of strict cultural and political norms.
The MET Gala will exhibit 200 fine art and fashion objects of this years theme which dates back to the 17th century – the court of Varsailles. ‘From sun kings to drag queens’ – is how Vogue editor Anna Wintour described the theme at a press conference earlier this year.
We are expecting a very interesting runway this year, where gender roles are erased in a quest to fulfill the ultimate fashion statement.
